Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions on website design, eCommerce, logos, hosting and in general.

I focus not only on building quality websites but also on developing strong relationships with my clients. If you still have an unanswered question, please don’t hesitate to contact me here.

I need a website, but I don’t know where to start, can you help?

Yes, absolutely. I believe in building long-lasting relationships with my clients because I see my role as not just building websites, but guiding clients through the many options and possibilities in front of them. I’m aware that reaching out to a web designer can be intimidating, and in a lot of cases clients aren’t entirely sure of what they need. So if you just have questions without even being sure you’re ready to go ahead, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

I have an old website that needs refreshing, do you do that?

I’m happy to take a look. But in my experience, it’s more cost and time-efficient to start over with a clean slate rather than try to untangle something that is outdated and stale. Feel free to get in touch or request a free quote and we can discuss your best options.

How does the design process work?

  1. Submit the Free Quote Request and I will start the process.
  2. I start by discussing your design project with you, either In-Person, Email, or Phone.
  3. Once complete, I will send you a detailed proposal based on the conversation and the provided specifications.
  4. If you’re happy to go ahead with the project, I will send you an Initial Invoice for  50% of the total.
  5. After receiving payment, I will start work on your website.
  6. I will provide you with the first design draft within a few working days. Then I will make any revisions to this based on your feedback.
  7. After receiving feedback on the draft, I’ll begin to develop the website and keep you up-to-date on the progress.
  8. Once the project is finalized and completed, the final 50% will need to be paid before the website is set to go live.

Can you make online shops?

Yes I can! I use Shopify to create eCommerce websites.

Which software do you use?

For graphics, I use the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator & Lightroom). For the development of websites, I use WordPress & Shopify, and both are responsively designed.

How long does it take to build a website?

It’s a tricky question to answer without knowing the specifics of the project. But smaller sites tend to take around 4-6 weeks to complete, larger or more complicated projects can easily go beyond that.

How much does a website cost?

You can find more about my pricing method here. If you’d like to discuss your requirements, please complete my Free Quote Request and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

I'm not in Edmond, Oklahoma, can we still work together?

Yes, I have clients all over the United States, and I’ve never found distance to impede my work.

Once you've built my site, do I need to pay you to make changes or can I update it myself?

I build custom websites with a Front End Visual Editor. This means you log in and edit text, make posts, and upload images safely and easily (mostly from the front end). However, if you have major structural or navigation changes, want to add new pages or additional elements, please get in touch with me and explain what you want in detail and I will quote a price. I will not start until we agree on the scope of the addition and its cost.

Are there any hidden costs with building a website I need to know about?

When we agree to work together I will offer a set price for the project, which will not change as long as the scope of the project is not altered during production. The other common costs associated with creating a website are hosting and domain registration, find out more about that below.

I need a new website, but also photographs to go with it, can you do that?

If you’re based in Edmond or the Oklahoma City Metro area I have a professional photographer I work with for all kinds of projects. Some clients elect to use Stock images. In that case, I typically suggest iStock Photo. iStock Photo has the largest repository of hi-resolution photos on just about every subject and you get a lot for your money.

Do you do logo design?

I can do logo design as part of your project. There would be an additional cost of between $500 – $1,000 depending on the type of design you require. I can add this to your free quote request.

Do you do Print Design?

No. I do not do print design.

What is hosting and why do I need it?

In order for people to reach your website, it needs to be stored somewhere permanently connected to the internet. Think of it as renting a space for a traditional business, you want to pick somewhere safe, affordable, and with good amenities. Good quality hosting means your website is secure, and dependably fast to load for everyone the world over.

Where and how do I host my site?

I offer a hosting service for a lot of my clients for an annual fee, included in the price are automatic WordPress backups and updates and you have the peace of mind of just shooting me an email if you have any questions rather than dealing with a host’s technical support.

I'd rather stay totally independent, and host my site elsewhere.

No problem, I can recommend various different companies and help you get setup.

What are Domain names?

A Domain name is an address that allows people to reach your site. All domain names cost an annual fee, typically around $15-20, but prices can go up from there depending on how exclusive the address is. If you already have a domain reserved somewhere, great, if not I can help you purchase one.
