*Updating WordPress Core Software, Plugins, and Themes are critical to keeping a site healthy, fast, and secure. The most common way a site gets hacked is through an outdated WordPress Core, Plugin or Theme.

**Used for tasks related to emergencies & minor edits only. You must submit a change order request to be completed during the month. Unused time does not rollover into the next month.

***This discount applies to any changes or work requested on your website that exceeds the allotted time in your package. This discount does not apply to site redesigns, changes in major functionality that require specific programming, or other graphic design work.

Care Plan FAQs

Who can sign up for the Care Plans?

Currently, Care Plans are exclusively for my WordPress clients whose websites I have built.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. All Care Plans are month-to-month. if I built your website, you may select one of the two Care Plans that suits you.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, you can cancel anytime. You are under no obligation to continue the ongoing service. Just provide a 30 days notice so I can carry out my Last Update of the website and supply you with a Full Backup.

What happens if I cancel, or don't sign up for a Care Plan?

If you decide not to sign up for a Care Plan for your website, you are responsible for providing your own hosting, security protection, creating backups, and performing the regular maintenance and tasks required as detailed in the Website Owner’s Manual provided to you.

If your site is hacked or crashes for any reason, I will not be responsible for your website going down, and you will be charged at my Non-Care Plan hourly rate to fix any issues that arise. If you have no backup up to this point, it may be impossible to restore your site to it's previous state.

What is the procedure when I sign up for a Care Plan for the first time?

Here are the two scenarios:

  1. 1
    I have just built your site and you would like me to host, secure, manage, and maintain the site. Simply sign up above. I will then create a hosting account and implement all the services in your plan immediately.
  2. 2
    You have an existing site and are signing up after it has been live for some time. In this case I will first scan the site to see if the site is clean up to this point or if it has been hacked or has malware.
  • If the site is clean up to this point then you have no additional expense. I will go ahead and set up all your monthly services as planned and notify you.
  • If a hack or malware is found, I will need to clean up the site before moving forward. Since you will be signing up for a Care Plan following the cleanup the discounted cost for the cleanup is $150 before any other steps are taken. Once approved by you, I will go ahead and clean it & set up all your services.

What if I’m not subscribed to one of your Care Plans and my site gets hacked?

If you’re not subscribed to a Care Plan and your site is hacked or there is malware on the site, here is a conservative estimate of the hack cleanup & malware removal cost:

  • Depending on how badly your site is affected, and how quickly you need your site restored, it will cost you between $200-500 to hire Experienced Security Engineers.
  • My Non-Care Plan rate with a one hour minimum, and
  • Your time away from your day-to-day business

OR simply sign up for a Care Plan as in the previous FAQ and I will follow through with everything.

Why do I need an ongoing Care Plan for my WordPress website?

While a web hosting company may provide excellent features in their hosting plans, they don't provide services like updates, backups, firewalls, scanning, malware removal, or support beyond hosting related issues.

WordPress updates frequently for better performance and security. And along with that, themes and plugins that are created by multiple authors are also updated to newer versions to comply with the latest version of WordPress, to improve their own performance, or to address security issues and bugs created by the core update. It is not guaranteed that the updates will not break the website or continue to function as intended if not updated.

For this reason, having a trained web specialist on hand to update & monitor the website is critical.

In addition, in an environment of growing security breaches, it is critical to protect your site with a Firewall and scan it regularly to identify and remove malware if a hacker succeeds.

Can I save time and roll over my support time to the next month?

Sorry, no rollovers. You lose unused time at the end of each month.

What is included in my monthly support time?

Support time is designed for troubleshooting without having to worry about paying an unanticipated invoice. You may use it for small design & content changes but once this time is used and something happens to your website that needs troubleshooting, you will incur an hourly expense at the current rate for your Care Plan with a one hour minimum. Please note that ideally, any requests for changes or new functionality will need to be quoted as they typically go over the monthly allotted time.

What if I need more time than is on my Care Plan’s monthly allocation?

If your support time is used up or your requested task requires more time than the time allocated on your Care Plan, just Contact or Call me and I will give you a quote for the project. You may keep your support time for the remaining month.

How do I contact you if I notice a problem?

Contact or Call me within normal business hours Monday through Friday (CST).

What if the Care Plans offered don’t meet my need?

If the set Care Plans don’t meet your needs, just Contact or Call me and I will create a Custom Care Plan just for you!

What if my website goes down, do you offer any compensation for lost business?

While I do my best to prevent your website from going down, being hacked, breaking, etc., I am not an insurance company. Having a Care Plan is a type of “insurance”, but does not come with any guarantees. If you require business insurance, contact your local insurance provider.

What is considered a "task"?

A task is any website update to your current content that includes editing copy, changing images, or similar, which takes up to 15 minutes to complete. This does not include adding anything new to your site such as: pages, forms, sliders, and any other functionality.

When does my month start & end if I sign up?

All Care Plans are based on a 30 day period. Your Care Plan starts on the date posted on your first invoice and ends 30 days after that date. Your Care Plan start date is based on when you contact me and how soon after that I'm able to set your site up on all the services.
