*Updating WordPress Core Software, Plugins, and Themes are critical to keeping a site healthy, fast, and secure. The most common way a site gets hacked is through an outdated WordPress Core, Plugin or Theme.

**Used for tasks related to emergencies only. You must submit a change order request to be completed during the month. Unused time does not rollover into the next month.

***This discount applies to any changes or work requested on your website that exceeds the allotted time in your package. This discount does not apply to site redesigns, changes in major functionality that require specific programming, or other graphic design work. Current hourly rate for Non-Care Plan work is $250 per hour with a one hour minimum.

Who can sign up for the Care Plans?

Currently, Care Plans are exclusively for my WordPress clients whose websites I have built.

The clients I built Shopify sites for do not need a Care Plan. Shopify maintains its own secure network and a vulnerability management program.

Do I have to sign a contract?

No. All Care Plans are month-to-month. However, if I built your website, please either select just Hosting or a Care Plan that suits you.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, you can cancel anytime. You are under no obligation to continue the ongoing service. Just provide a 30 days notice so I can carry out my Last Update of the website and supply you with a Full Backup.

What happens if I cancel, or don't sign up for a Care Plan?

If you decide not to sign up for a Care Plan for your website, you will be responsible for providing your own security protection, creating regular backups, and  performing the regular maintenance and tasks required as detailed in your Website Owner’s Manual provided to you.

As a result, if your site is hacked or crashes for any reason because updates were not performed, I will not be responsible for your website going down, and you will be charged at my premium hourly rate (see rates above) to fix any issues that arise. If you have no backup, it may be impossible to restore your site to it's previous state.

What if I’m not subscribed to one of your Care Plans and my site gets hacked?

If you’re not subscribed to a Care Plan and your site is hacked, here is a conservative estimate of the malware removal & hack cleanup cost:

  • Depending on how badly your site is affected, and how quickly you need your site restored, it will cost you between $200-500 to hire Experienced Security Engineers.
  • My time at full rate per hour (see Hosting Only plan above), and
  • Your time away from your day-to-day business

Why do I need an ongoing plan when SiteGround updates my WordPress version?

SiteGround is a fantastic web-hosting company that provides excellent features in their hosting plans. But that’s it, they only provide hosting & hosting support. SiteGround does not update the site theme & plugins, provide a firewall, scan and isolate malware, or repair or remove it after an incident.

WordPress plugins are created by multiple authors, and are consistently updated to newer versions to comply with the latest version of WordPress, to improve performance, or to address security issues and bugs. It is not guaranteed that the mandated updates to WordPress will not break the website, nor that plugins will continue to function if not updated.

For this reason, having a trained web specialist on hand to monitor the website is necessary to update plugins, rollback plugins, replace plugins or even adjust the theme to continue optimal performance.

In addition, in an environment of growing security breaches, it is critical to protect your site with a Firewall and scan it regularly to identify and remove malware if a hacker succeeds.

Can I save time and roll over my support time to the next month?

Sorry, no rollovers. You lose unused time at the end of each month.

What is included in my monthly support time?

Support time is designed for troubleshooting, changing text, images, and other small design tweaks per your request within 60 or 90 minutes per month. Please note that any requests for new functionality will need to be quoted as they usually go over the monthly allotted time.

What if I need more time than is on my Care Plan’s monthly allocation?

If your support time is used up or your requested task requires more time than the time allocated on your Care Plan, just Contact or Call me and I will give you a quote for the project. You may keep your support time for the remaining month.

How do I contact you if I notice a problem?

Contact or Call me within normal business hours Monday through Friday (CST).

What if the Care Plans offered don’t meet my need?

If the set Care Plans don’t meet your needs, just Contact or Call me and I will create a Custom Care Plan just for you!

What if my website goes down, do you offer any compensation for lost business?

While I do my best to prevent your website from going down, being hacked, breaking, etc., I am not an insurance company. Having a care plan is a type of “insurance”, but does not come with any guarantees. If you require business insurance, contact your local insurance provider.

What is considered a "task"?

A task is any website update to your current content that includes editing copy, changing images, or similar, which takes up to 15 minutes to complete. This does not include adding anything new to your site such as: pages, forms, sliders, and any other functionality.

When does my month start & end if I sign up?

All Care Plans are based on a 30 day period. Your Care Plan starts on the date posted on your first invoice and ends 30 days after that date. Your Care Plan start date is based on when you contact me and how soon after that I'm able to set your site up on all the services.
